India has a growing need for career guidance, with studies indicating that over 93% of students aged 14-18 are aware of fewer than ten career options, while there are more than 5000 career paths available today. Additionally, reports suggest that 85% of students feel they lack proper guidance in making career decisions, highlighting the importance of structured career guidance programs like ours.

The primary objective of the Career Guidance Program is to provide students with clarity on their future aspirations. The key initiatives include:

● Career Assessments: Identifying students’ strengths, interests, and aptitudes to align them with suitable career options.
● Personalized Guidance: One-on-one and group discussions to help students gain career clarity.
● Industry Insights: Sessions on diverse career paths and new-age opportunities in various sectors.

The program does not merely focus on career pathways but fosters a deeper understanding of essential life skills such as discipline, self-confidence, and emotional intelligence. This holistic approach ensures students are equipped not just with career knowledge but with the mindset and resilience needed for long-term success.

Bridging the Gap in Career Awareness

The statistics mentioned regarding career awareness and guidance among Indian students are supported by several studies and surveys:

● Career Awareness: A survey conducted by Mindler, an online career-counseling platform, found that 93% of students aged 14 to 21 were aware of only seven career options, despite over 5000 career paths being available in India (Business Standard).

● Lack of Career Guidance: The ASER 2023 Report highlighted that 20% of Indian youth lack career clarity, with 48.3% of females and 42.5% of males lacking role models for their desired careers (Free Press Journal).

These statistics reinforce the need for career guidance programs that offer structured support to help students make informed choices. With growing career opportunities in various sectors, empowering students with the right knowledge and direction is more important than ever.

As we continue to expand our Career Guidance Program, we aim to provide students with the tools they need to carve their own unique paths, making career decisions with confidence and clarity. The journey ahead is theirs to shape, and we stand committed to guiding them every step of the way.

“When young minds are given the tools to dream and the guidance to choose, they don’t just imagine the future—they create it.”

Since September 2024, Rukmani Trust and KRI Trust have joined forces to launch the Career Guidance Program at VIDYA-India, Gurugram—impacting the lives of 273 bright young minds aged 14 and above. This inspiring initiative is more than just guidance; it’s a launchpad for dreams. By offering in-depth career assessments, one-on-one mentorship, and dynamic sessions on a wide range of career paths and emerging opportunities, the program is helping students discover their potential and chart a future filled with purpose and possibility.
